Optus launches new pre-paid plans that only charge for the days you use

optusmyplanOptus has introduced a new prepaid plan where customers are only charged for the days they use the service for fixed and mobile calls, texts and data.

There are two options for Optus Prepaid Daily customers to suit light and heavy users with up to six months to use the credit before it expires.

This is aimed at users who only want to pay for the days they use their phones instead of paying for set amounts that expire after 30 days whether you use your allowances or not.

Shazam music recognition app now available for Mac computers

shazammac1Shazam – the music recognition app you use to find out the name of that song that’s playing – is now available to download for your Mac.

With Shazam running in the background it can give you uninterrupted access to the world of music around you.

Now when you’re trying to work out the name of the song in an ad on TV or in a movie trailer, Shazam will not only recognise it in seconds but also display the name on the song like a notification on your Mac’s desktop.

Kogan unveils affordable Agora 4G Android smartphone

kogan4gagora2Kogan is taking on the big brands yet again with a 4G Android smartphone that is more than $600 cheaper than the most popular devices in the market.

The Kogan Agora 4G is priced at just $229 but still offers a 5-inch screen and a 1.2Ghz quad-core processor.

Also on board is Android’s latest 4.4.2 KitKat operating system and compatibility with Australia’s current 4G network and future 4G networks on the 700Mhz spectrum.

Apple kicks off OS X Yosemite Beta program

wwdc14official2Apple has launched the OS X Yosemite Beta program to give Mac users an early look at the new operating system and help iron out any bugs and submit feedback.

It is the first time Apple has allowed the public to use a pre-release operating system.

OS X Yosemite, which will be free when officially released, offers a number of new features including a redesigned interface that looks a lot more like the iPhone and iPad iOS.

screenclean1Your mobile device’s screen is up to 10 times dirtier than a toilet seat according to researchers so it pays to invest in a screen cleaner for your own health’s sake.

Research from London University says 82 per cent of all mobile phones have some sort of bacterial contamination.

This highlights the need to practice good tech hygiene by cleaning your device’s screen.
