Panasonic has introduced new plasma models with the latest smart TV capabilities plus 3D viewing options but with an entry level price tag.

The 42-inch and 50-inch Panasonic Viera UT30 Series plasmas are priced at $1099 and $1299 respectively.

Both are full high definition plasma panels with 24 frames per second viewing in 2D or 3D mode. They can also convert 2D to 3D on the fly.

Each has a dynamic contrast ratio of 2,000,000: 1 aboard the full HD G14 panel which is capable of displaying 3D movies in full high definition as well.

There are also three USB PVR ports to record to a connected hard drive along with three HDMI ports. Content can also be viewed from or recorded to an SD card.

The affordable Viera plasmas have an Ethernet port to connect to your network which will allow access to online content like catch up TV, music and internet radio and interactive games.

Users can also access Skype to make and receive calls with the additional camera accessory and also access social networking sites like Twitter and Facebook right there on the screen.

And because it is part of your home network it also has ability to display your pictures and movies from other devices in the house like computers and smartphones using DLNA (digital living network alliance).

A separate optional wi-fi adaptor is available to connect the Viera to your home network if there isn't an Ethernet cable handy in your viewing area.

“This latest entry level addition to our already extensive range of Plasma VIERA TVs is the perfect Christmas present and ideal for those fans looking to upgrade their TVs for the upcoming sporting season,” said Adam Faccin, product marketing manager, plasma, Panasonic Australia.
